“IICT’s Dr. S. Venkata Mohan Advocates Technological Solutions for Environmental Sustainability”
In a bid to address pressing environmental concerns, Dr. S. Venkata Mohan, Senior Principal Scientist at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, delivered an insightful lecture on “Technological Interventions for Sustainability and Resilience.” Dr. Mohan’s discourse shed light on the escalating pollution crisis and its detrimental impact on future generations.
Highlighting the alarming rise in atmospheric pollution, Dr. Mohan expressed grave concerns about its implications for the survival of humanity. He underscored the urgent need for collective action to mitigate pollution levels, emphasizing the critical role of waste recycling in reducing air and water pollution. Dr. Mohan elucidated IICT’s research findings and presented compelling case studies, advocating for proactive measures to combat pollution effectively.
The program, organized by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University’s Faculty of Sciences as part of Viksit Bharat, was presided over by Prof. K. Seetharama Rao, the university’s esteemed Vice-Chancellor. Prof. Rao lauded the university’s science faculty for its exemplary reputation and emphasized the importance of scientific progress being beneficial to society at large.
Prof. G. Pushpa Chakrapani, Director (Academic) & Dean, Faculty of Sciences, elaborated on the significance of National Science Day, commemorating the renowned Indian scientist Sir CV Raman’s discovery of the Raman effect. The event was graced by the presence of various dignitaries, including Dr. K. Sridevi, who welcomed the gathering, and Mr. N. Battu, who proposed the vote of thanks.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from directors, deans, heads of branches, teaching and non-teaching staff members, faculty, and representatives of service associations, alongside aspiring science students, underscoring the collective commitment to fostering scientific innovation for a sustainable future.
